Parchment, drafts, and routine
Goldie began her writing life as a municipal court stenographer in Des Moines, recording testimony that shaped her enduring fascination with spoken cadence and suppressed motive. She writes each first draft by hand in bound ledger notebooks before typing clean copy on an Olympia manual typewriter.
Her essays on mid-century agrarian history and archival research have appeared in literary quarterlies nationwide. When not drafting, she cultivates heirloom pear varieties and hosts quarterly reading seminars for rural public libraries.
Goldie welcomes thoughtful reflections from readers, discussion questions from independent book circles, and invitations for university panels or festival readings.
